Emmeline was born in Moss Side, Manchester, England. She was a womens Suffragette who fought for the right for women to vote.
She was born to Sophia and Robert Goulden in July 1858. She was the eldest out of 10 siblings. Pankhurst became a Suffragette at the age of 14 after her mother took her to a womens suffrage meeting. Both of her parents were politically active before her birth.
In 1879, she married Richard Pankhurst who died on 5th of July, 1898 at the age of 64. His cause of death was that he suddenly felt unwell while Emmeline was on a business trip (?). He died due to stomach ulcers as his wife was not quick enough to get home on time.
Emmeline and her husband together founded Independent Labour Parties in the 1890s, the WSPU (Women's Social and Political Union) in 1903 (disbanded in 1917) and Women's party in 1917.
As of WW1, Emmeline and her eldest daughter Christabel encouraged other Suffragettes to do numerous hobbies for the time being. Because of this, WSPU was discontinued.
Emmeline died on 14th of June, 1928 in London, England. She has many memorial sites, such as Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst Memorial. A monument site was created in Pankhurst's original home. In 2018, a statue of her was made, Created by Hazel Reeves, Located in Manchester.
